Chavez is alive and well

one of shelby's cats had kittens a couple of mornings ago. Yesterday one died and Shelby was the one that found it. She picked it up with it's head flopping all around, brought it in the house to show her Dad and tell him "I think it's dead" then she quite matter of factly took it back outside and buried it herself.

First Day of School

The first day of school was alot rougher on Mommy than on Peyton and Shelby. I took Peyton to her class first and she cried a little but stopped the second I was out the door, then I went across the hallway to Shelby's class and her only concern was that she didn't know how to open her locker (they keep their nap mats in little lockers in the classroom) so I made sure she had it figured out before I left. She didn't even cry.

Sit by Sissy

Peyton has to have her chair right by Shelby most mornings, but sometimes that just isn't close enough and she sits right on Shelby's lap for breakfast. Note the cup Peyton is drinking milk out of, this is a medicine cup that is tinted blue that she insists on drinking out of every morning. "Ahn tiny bue cup" It's REALLY fun to refill it about 18 times each morning. These two sure do love each other.

Monster Leggies!

Monster and Alien legs courtesy of my strange socks that Damien and Tiffanie and Mimi gave me last Christmas. A good 30 minutes of entertainment for Shelby and Peyton

Cartoon Time

Just a little Saturday morning cartoons. Peyton is still in full Dora mode and Shelby has moved on to Spongebob Squarepants. Nothing better than getting your mom out of bed bright and early on a Saturday morning demanding "bakefast" "wight now" and then as soon as your belly is full you snuggle up with your blankies for some cartooning.

Aahn Hoed It

Driving home tonight from my Mom's house Shelby fell asleep from the exhaustion of a fun summer day of playing with her cousins. Peyton was however wide awake and fascinated by the moon. It's just a small crescent tonight and she kept track of it all the way home no matter which way the car turned it was always out sissy's window or Mommy's window but never out Pey Pey's window. She kept saying Aahn hoed it (I want to hold it) and I'd tell her it's too far. She wanted it to be out her window and I said it would be as soon as we got to our house. On our road she was quite upset saying "is not ow my winow is ow yours winow" I said just wait and when we turned into the driveway I stopped the car and showed her and she was so excited it had finally "come to hers side". I just love that sweet girl. Then after I carried Shelby in to bed I walked around outside holding Peyton and we both tried to reach it but we couldn't "is to far" and the "stars ares to far too"

Chavez 2

So when my little sister Shayla was a kid she watched the movie Young Guns one to many times and decided that she was Chavez. She was the wildest little dirty, grubby, no hair combing, knife weilding kid you ever saw. So then I guess it should come as no surprise that my sweet little princess Shelby has started to take after her. She would absolutely live outside if I would let her. She adores her new kitties and spends hours crawling through the tall weeds out in the field with them building "nests". She has no fear of anything. She makes mud pies for Peyton who is almost as wild as her big sister. This past week Sven invited some friends over to ride on his track and the kids spent the day playing in their "sandbox" which is actually a huge pit that he dug while building the track. I got to ride the 4-wheeler around with Pey Pey and take pictures of Sven and pictures of the sand pit crew.

One month left

so I've been feeling like I'm completely over summer and ready for school to start so I can just get on with getting done and now that it is almost here I'm having an anxiety attack. I know it will be fine but the thought of three full days a week away from my girls seems like alot. Shelby doesn't even want to go to her ballet class lately because I have to wait out in the hall. I think it's the whole changing their school thing. If they were going back to their same school I wouldn't be as worried because they loved it but I'm afraid the new school is going to be like starting all over again. I just pray they have some amazing teachers like they did last year.

Princess Shelby's 4th Birthday Bash

Shelby decided she wanted a princess party for her birthday this year and of course I got completely out of control with the planning. We decided to combine it with her cousin Colton's birthday since they are only about 10 days apart and make it a princess and knight party. We outfitted all of the knights with swords and armor as they arrived and all of the princesses with jewelry, tiaras, and wands. Then we had princess horsey rides.

Next we had the luncheon with star shaped sandwiches and fruit with purple dip.

After lunch the knights played pop the balloon with the joust, shot a bow and arrow, and slayed a dragon pinata. The princesses played does the slipper fit and pea under the mattress. Then the doorbell rang and Shelby went to answer it. Believe it or not it was Cinderella, "the REAL Cinderella" with Prince Charming. She wasn't to sure what to think at first but once they got out the REAL glass slipper they had brought for her the smile came back. They sang songs and danced and took pictures with the girls then they delivered glass slipper party favors on silk pillows filled with candy. They helped blow out the candles and the kids attacked the dessert table. It was a hit but as my brother told me. "you know next year you could just fly her out to Disneyland for about the same cost and less work." This may be true but I may only get to do a princess party once. She's already informed me that next year for her birthday she wants to be a Rock Star. They just grow up sooo fast.

And last but certainly not least it was present time. The favorite by far: Two New Kitties!

4th Celebrations

We had a little get together at my parent's house this year for the 4th of July. We have grown a bit disenchanted with the City of Lubbocks parade the past few years and so this year we decided to just do our own thing and let the kids have their own parade which was WAY more fun for them and us. Then we barbequed and did sparklers and pop its in the driveway. The next night which was the actual 4th we sat out in our backyard and could see about 5 different fireworks displays. Just one of the benefits of living out in the country.
